LASH EXTENSIONS
FAQs
What is the difference between Eyelash Extensions, clusters, and band lashes?
Eyelash Extensions are individual synthetic, curved eyelashes that resemble a natural eyelash. They are semi-permanent, which means they will last as long as your natural lashes growth cycle. They are applied with professional strength adhesive to each individual natural eyelash. Eyelash Extensions create thicker, longer lashes that are great for daily wear or for special occasions. Clusters are a few or more lashes ban'ded together at the end to form a "V", and can last anywhere from 2-7 days. Band lashes are stips of eyelashes applied with temporary adhesive, and are typically for one day use onlly.
Will my lashes look "fake"?
No, your new lashes will look like your natural lashes, only thicker and longer. Your eyelash set will be customized to suit you and your natural lashes for a realistic look. We have different thicknesses and curls with lengths ranging from 7mm to 14mm. As long as you keep up with the touch-up applications, and follow up with proper care, it is almost impossible to tell that you are wearing the extensions. Because it is an exact replica of an eyelash, it weighs practically nothing. You will not notice the addition of the extensions to your lashes and with proper care, they will not cause your natural lashes to fall out ahead of their natural cycle. With proper application, meaning one synthetic eyelash applied to one natural lash, the look and feel is completely natural looking and real.
What is the Eyelash Application process?
You will lay comfortably on a massage or facial table with your eyes closed while listening to music. Then the extensions will be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis. The application process for lash extensions generally takes between 120+ minutes to apply a full set of Eyelash Extensions, depending on which set we decide on, and any touch-ups take about 45+ minutes.
How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions Last?
When applied properly, eyelash extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes. Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days). When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.
How often should I get touch-ups?
Everyone's experience will differ based on your daily care of your lashes and your day to day activities, but over all we recommend getting a touch up every 2 to 3 weeks. If you wait too long your eyelash extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Other factors such as expsoure to steam or touching your eyes alot may cause the extensions to fall sooner. A touch up is needed to fill in any lashes that fallen. Touch ups average about 45 minutes.
Can I apply mascara or use eyelash curlers on Eyelash Extensions?
We do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your eyelash extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes. Mascara is also not recommended and not really required since the extensions actually give the illusion of wearing mascara. Although, it can be worn, but must only be water-based mascara. DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA. Waterproof mascara or any type of oil-based mascara can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your eyelash extensions causing them to fall sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara. Only use a water-based eye makeup remover.
Can I swim, shower or exercise while wearing Eyelash Extensions?
Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc. Special care is required but overall maintenance is low. We do recommend however that you do not use heavy water, such as in the shower on your lashes for about 12- 24 hours after the eyelash application. A light Mist is fine.
How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?
DO NOT get lashes wet for 12- 24 hours.Do not perm your lashes
DO NOT use a mechanical eyelash curler
DO NOT pull on your lashes or rub eyes
DO NOT use cotton balls or Q-tips on lashes
DO NOT cake on heavy eyeliner or mascara
Avoid hot steam or sauna
Avoid sleeping face down
Avoid running water directly on your lashes
Comb them daily with a spoolie wand
If you must, only use water based mascara (optional)
If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area
Use water based eye makeup remover, we prefer the brand Sterilid
How do I choose the look I want?
Eyelash extensions are available in a number of lengths and thickness. We do a consultation with you first to see what type of style you are interested in. We also determine what your lashes can hold in regards to size. Each person's lashes will vary in strength and length. We take this into consideration when creating a look for you. The overall look of the lashes is very natural.
How much will my Eyelash Extensions cost?
The initial full set of Eyelash Extensions, which typically consists of 70-110 lashes per eye, cost $120+.
Is the product FDA approved? Is it safe?
Currently the FDA is not regulating eyelash extensions because the eyelash extensions are applied to the natural eyelash hairs and do not touch the skin. The application process is pain-free and relaxing that most clients fall asleep during the procedure. However, improper application by an unqualified eyelash technician can cause damage to your natural lashes. We recommend only using a Licensed and Certified Esthetician.
